The Fox River Radio League (FRRL) HF Challenge began in 1997
when Bill Erickson, WA9TPQ, sought ways to promote more club activity
on the amateur HF bands. Since then, participation has increased to
being a major year-long FRRL event. Bill became a silent key 12/10/02
and in his honor, this event was renamed the Bill
Erickson FRRL HF Challenge.
There are four classes of competition: High Power (QRO),
Operator or under 250 watts, Limited (i.e. Single Band, Digital, CW,
QRP), and even a class for the Ragchewers amoung us. Four plaques are
given out to winners of each class and certificates to everyone that
participates. You can also find updated scores in the ArcOver Newsletter.
