FRRL Huntley Fall Festival - 2007
Event Chairman Joe AB9OU and his Co-chairman Bill W9WRS conceived and planned the event.
Here are the detailed results (pdf), listing the HF contacts we made on 20 and 40 meters on Saturday, the 15th of September 2007.  Also included is a summary of the number of states, countries and provinces contacted.  A QSL card will go out to each of the stations we contacted, and to the operators as a memento of the event.
This year we used two HF radios. A Kenwood TS-2000 and an Icom IC-756Pro.  Two dipoles were strung in a co-linear fashion between two trees approximately 150 feet apart. Greg N9CHA provided the radios and antennas, Dick AH6EZ used his homebuilt launcher to get the dipoles secured at each end.
Charles KC9DAO brought one of the FRRL canopies, and also provided a Tipper with mast for our VHF vertical antenna.  We used 145.77 simplex as our logistical support frequency. Power was supplied by the Huntley Park District. A 25KVa generator was set 60' from our station. It was also used to power several kiddy jumping amusements.
Set-up at Deicke Park in Huntley occurred on Friday, 14 Sept 2007. Operations began at 9am on Saturday, 15 Sept 2007. We packed the equipment at 6:30 pm that afternoon.
In all, 19 volunteer operators helped out this year at the Fest. We contacted 36 states and 17 countries. Of the volunteers, 9 operated either of the two HF demonstration stations.
The public was invited into the demo area. Several brochures from the ARRL, and FRRL were on display and handed out. Of the nearly 60 visitors, 3 were hams.  Two little girls operated 3rd party with Becky KB9UBU on VHF.
Here is a notice from Pam Fender, the event organizer and chairperson for the Huntley Fall Festival 2007:
Dear Greg:
I would like you to pass along my sincere Thanks, to all the Fox River Radio League members, who helped the Huntley Fall Fest committee this past Saturday. Many of you put in many hours, and worked very hard, helping with security issues and helping "iron out" communication difficulties at the festival.
Special condolences go to Kathy Braun, N9DEE, who had the toughest job, of trying to keep up with me all day! She did quite a good job, and even got to the point where she knew some of the answers before I had to give them to her!
Your club showed this event planner, that there is help out there, with energy, enthusiasm, and a real professional attitude! Thanks again, to all those who helped.
