National IRLP Kid's Net
Friday nights
8:00pm Central time
Reflector 9206
You can connect using the FRRL 70cm repeater on 444.300. First, key up and identify and say you will be accessing IRLP. Unkey, wait a moment just to make sure no one has emergency traffic, then while holding the PTT, dial the reflector number 9 2 0 6 on your DTMF keypad. (Make sure you are using a radio that can send DTMF, or "touch tones", in this manner.) When you have dialed all four digits, release the PTT. You should hear the repeater confirm that you have connected to the reflector.
Note that when you are operating IRLP, when you transmit, you should wait about 1/2 second after you press the PTT before you start to speak.
This gives a chance for all the linked radios to come up. Otherwise, your first word or two may get clipped. Likewise, when you are done speaking, wait about 1/2 second before you let go of the PTT, so that your last word or two does not get clipped.
After the net is over, to drop the IRLP link, hold the PTT, dial 7 3 on your keypad, then release the PTT. You should hear the repeater confirm that the link has dropped.
If you have a radio that can do 70cm (UHF) try this net. It should be fun to talk to other kids around the country!
